CSPA Age Calculator

Determine whether a child beneficiary retains protection under the Child Status Protection Act — and how much time remains to seek to acquire permanent residence.

CSPA Calculator (Child Status Protection Act)

Green card processing in many categories can take years, and dependent children sometimes cross the age limit while their case is still pending—putting their eligibility to immigrate with a parent at risk. The Child Status Protection Act (CSPA) may protect certain children from aging out, depending on the specifics of their case.

This calculator takes your case details and shows whether your child still qualifies to immigrate as a dependent.

Enter the information below to check your child's eligibility for an immigrant visa.

Step 1

Enter case dates

Priority date for I-130/I-140, or the filing date on the receipt notice.
The date the priority date became current per the Visa Bulletin's Final Action Dates chart — or the approval date, if later.
Pending time = approval date − filing date. This is the number of days subtracted from the child's biological age to reach their CSPA age.
The date adjustment of status (I-485) was filed, or the immigrant visa fee was paid. Must fall within one year of visa availability.

Step 2

Enter the case dates on the left and calculate to see the CSPA age, protection status, and the seek-to-acquire deadline.
